Group Rules
♡ No Sign In Sheet / why? We are not babysitters. People are not looking for someone to watch over them and dictate them.
♡ No Membership Fees / why? What for? There is next to nothing in costs. Our locations are not going to be places that charge us. That's just greed. Folks will buy and pay for their lunch. Plus, tip our servers well. We will explain that (and we still do).
♡ Event to be held same day every month. / why? Consistency. Being able to repeat the same thing every time asked. (Kasia came up with First Friday Monthly)
♡ No Guest Speakers / why? I had a long list here. Lol. Bottom line our Networking Group was not going to be the same as all the rest. Our Networking Group was and is to be about building Relationships (Personal & Business)
♡ There are no caps on the number of people from any industry. Why? Simply people will do business with whom they like and trust. Plus, the folks will narrow down what they specialize in.
The Beginning
Kasia suggested having dinner. Tamilynn told Marilyn she should sit on the inside. She said to herself, “I should have saw it coming. These two ladies had been asking me for a year plus to start a Networking event. I kept saying, No!”
Yep, they again asked her to start a Networking event. She first asked, why? Tamilynn was retired and was "game on" to be fully involved. Kasia had this idea that all Networking Groups/Events needed a neutral location to promote all. A single location that was fully for the purpose of all the groups coming together to support one another. That was a fantastic idea.
I said that #1) Susan McCarley had to be part of the Team! I wouldn't do it without her. #2) I have thought long and hard about a Networking group and I have a handful of rules that are non-negotiable for me to be part of the Team. This is where I just knew it would be a no go! I was wrong.
9.11.2021 Marilyn Kasia and Tamilynn had a nice dinner at Plaza Mariachi after attempting to attend a Networking event that was to start at 4 pm and no one was there at 4:30 pm. They were told that they were running late. That was not good in their eyes so they left.
11.5.2021 was the first official kick-off at Blue Surf Cafe.
We didn't have the name yet.
Tamilynn moved to South Carolina in 2022 so Marilyn suggested bringing in Audria. And they did!
The group is now run by Marilyn Blair, Susan McCarley and Audria Simmons, and has been going strong for over 4 years!
